Dave Steele – Principal/Founder
As a former non-profit CEO, program officer, and program director, Dave Steele has a unique perspective of the non-profit sector, as both a grantor and a grantee, as both a non-profit leader and as a consultant to non-profits. Steele’s 15 years of experience has been largely focused on K-12 schools that are governed by independent boards of directors.
Steele has overseen a multi-million dollar portfolio of grants and low-interest loans to non-profits, designing and implementing strategies for maximum impact, and has trained and consulted with hundreds of non-profit leaders and board members, specializing in strategic planning and board development, as well as program design, implementation and evaluation.
He is a recognized leader in building diversity and inclusion in the non-profit sector. His work has led to significant and measurable increase in the diversity of non-profit boards and staff among the organizations he’s worked with.
Steele holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2015 he was the recipient of a scholarship from Harvard Business School and earned a certificate from Harvard’s Social Enterprise Initiative.
He resides in Milwaukee’s Sherman Park neighborhood with his wife, Molly, and is the father of two boys. In his spare time he enjoys reading, bicycling and playing music.
